DJ Moni

DJ Moni (Monica Pineda) began collecting vinyl at the age of nine, once her parents finally bought her a turntable after moving to the U.S. from Colombia. The Caribbean and African rhythms she grew up with were met with the bass-heavy electro, hip hop and new wave sounds of the early eighties. Her love of music and dance inspired her to DJ and co-host a radio show at Washinton DC's WVAU in 1991. That was how it started. Now, she has a CD out. Her first proper mix CD, Suite 903. She is the first woman to mix this soul compilation, sponsored by The Fader magazine & Cornerstone. Check it out!
Moni is the quintessential Urban Nomad; a yoga instructor by day, she travels the world DJ-ing by night. Currently, Moni is spreading the love for music enthusiasts on the beach of Boracay in the Philippines. In the summer, she will be teaching yoga in Capri and will be doing a DJ tour in Europe - while sporting the sexiest leather accessories any DJ owns - eenamaria!
