The Urban Nomad Profiles:
FIONA BLOOM
How did a young British classical pianist blossom into an urban music industry maven?  Today, Fiona Bloom has her fingers on the pulse of Brooklyn's rising music scene, just as eenamaria has her wrist wrapped in a gorgeous leather cuff as we pick the petals of Bloom's brain to gain insight into her unique life as an Urban Nomad.

eenamaria and the Bloom Effect seem to be plugged into what is happening culturally in Brooklyn. What is special about this Borough right now?  What do you see coming out of Brooklyn in the next few years artistically?
FB: Some of the most creative people live in Brooklyn.  It's really only been over the last few years that people outside of Brooklyn have come to appreciate all that Brooklyn has to offer and are actually comfortable about leaving the City to investigate and experience Brooklyn.  I've been living here for 8 years and have watched Brooklyn come up.  I love it here - wouldn't want to live in any other Borough.

What inspires you now?  What are you feeling right now fashion-wise?
FB: I'm inspired by young people these days.  They're much smarter then before and their desires are great.  Fashion wise I'm into accessories.  It's amazing what a bag, earrings, bracelet, belt and shoes can do to jazz up an outfit and complete a thought and style.  That's why I love eenamaria.

What are your thoughts about being a woman in a male-dominated industry?
FB:
It's been quite a struggle and unlike the men in this industry- there's not enough women who support each other.
We're too busy stabbing our gender in the back, being catty or intimidated.  It has to stop ...  I see it changing but it's still not where we should be as women ... It's hard being an attractive and intelligent woman.  It shouldn't be.

eenamaria designs for the Urban Nomad.  Is it hard being an Urban Nomad?  How do you stay ahead on your own, and fit in when it's hard?
FB: I really don't care what others think of me.  If I spent time being concerned I'd waste an awful lot of energy.
As long as I'm genuine and true to myself and continue with my cause and passion for what I'm doing- I'll always stay focused.   Of course there are plenty more challenges being on your own and going a separate path- but the rewards are far greater and you end up being respected more.   Plus, I'm out here helping to improve people's lives and bring great quality music and culture to their door step.
